background of the aspire programThe ASPIRE Program has been designed to provide a quality after-school program that supplements the school's regular educational program in Language Arts, Reading and Math to children in kindergarten to fifth grade. The program operates after school from 2:30-5:30 p.m. All children regardless of race or income level have the same potential for high achievement within a healthy and nurturing environment through learning activities.

student eligibilityTo be eligible for ASPIRE, a child must be enrolled in elementary school grades Kindergarten through fifth grade. A student 3-4 levels below grade level in any of the following in Reading, Math, and/or Language Arts and other supplemental instructions are deemed first priority. Students are selected based on their performance levels using the AIMSWEB assessment.

program curriculum
Learning activities are grouped into four categories as follows:
1. Reading, Math, Language Arts and other supplemental instruction such as tutoring. Homework assistance provided in the three priority areas does not necessarily mean completion, understanding that parents are the first line in a child's education and assistance in extended educational opportunities such as ASPIRE should supplement, not replace parents' and guardians' active involvement in their children's education.
2. Physically active education that integrates Reading, Math and Language Arts skills. This may include recreational, team, individual or dual sports and games, dance, exercise, tumbling, aerobics, jump-rope and other physical fitness activities.
3. Dynamically active hands-on education that incorporates Reading, Math and Language Arts skills. This may include painting, drawing, crafts, gardening, drama, singing, playing musical instruments, video-recording, formation of a choir or band, science experiments, nature exploration, puppets, and other hands-on educational activities.
4. Quiet time and play activities. This may include board games, rest, relaxation, snacks, video-watching, puzzles, teacher story reading, socialization, listening to music, student leisure reading, and other quiet time or play activities.

registration proceduresThe following are the steps in which to take when registering your child in the ASPIRE Program: Registration process must be done every new quarter.
1. Pick up a Registration packet in our school office to be completed and returned. 2. Upon eligibility, you will be contacted to to pick up the signed registration form and a payment slip in which to take to any Bank of Guam location for payment. 3. After payment has been made, return stamped copy of registration form and receipt back to the school as proof of payment. Your child(ren) may then begin to attend ASPIRE. |
program feeProgram fee is $100.00 per child per quarter. All payments made are nonrefundable. No payment installments or payment options are offered or accepted. If a student transfers to another school and payment has been made for the quarter, the student has the option of attending ASPIRE classes at the location he/she transfers to at no additional charge depending upon availability of enrollment.

program length and timeASPIRE begins at 2:30 and students are to be picked up no later than 5:30 p.m. by authorized persons listed in the registration form. Students will only be released to authorized adults ages 18 and above listed or authorized minors possessing a valid driver's license. A copy of the minor's driver's license must be provided.

late pickupA fee of $5.00 for every 15 minute interval after 5:30 p.m. will be charged to all students. An ASPIRE Late Pick-up Payment form will be issued to the parent in which to bring to any Bank of Guam location for payment. All late pick-up payments must be made within five (5) working days or the student will be dismissed from the program.

discipline
Every effort will be made to address disciplinary problems that may occur using appropriate interventions. Parents/guardians will be informed of any discipline problems. Discipline referrals and parent/guardian conferences will be requested and/or conducted when necessary. If a student continues to exhibit behavioral problems and is considered a danger to others and to him/herself, then this may result in the removal from the program. Should a child be removed from the program, payments will not be refunded.

attendance
Attendance records will be maintained. If you child is absent from the regular school day, he or she shall not be allowed to participate in ASPIRE for that day.

snacks
The ASPIRE Program schedule allows for students to have snack time. The program does not provide snacks for the students at this time. Therefore, parents are highly encouraged to provide nutritious snacks for their child.
|
security
Students will be supervised by ASPIRE staff at all times. Should you wish to observe the class, you must check in at the office and obtain a visitor's pass. Students enrolled in ASPIRE are expected to remain in school until an authorized person signs them out. ASPIRE students may be allowed to go home after a regular school day provided they submit a written authorization to the coordinator. The regular classroom teacher must be notified of the change no later than the end of the school day.
